Citizen 2010…

Unfortunately The Academy was only able to field a handful of players at the Citizen this year due to players being away and playing other tournaments.

In the U10′s Dominique Bell comfortably won the girls singles and doubles.

Playing in her first tournament for over one and a half years due to injuries. Hannah Swan made a great come back by winning the U14 girls singles.

Academy U14 England boys number 1 doubles pair Harrison Simcock and Sean Vendy narrowly lost in the semi finals of the U18′s boys doubles.

Tsui-Yee Lau who is still U14 reached the finals of the girls singles and doubles.  In both finals she had to play against England player Sophie Sankey.  In the second set of the singles Tsui-Yee put on a great display of badminton just losing 20-21.

After a very slow start Joel picked his game up to reach the final of the boys U16 doubles.  After a good win in the Semi finals, unfortunately his opponents in the final were too strong.  A good finish to a bad day, Well done Joel…

Next year I think the Citizen should just be made an Open tournament as every year players that do not live, go to school or even play badminton in Milton Keynes are still allowed to play?  So to stop everyone moaning about it just open the tournament up?

Much easier…….
